FERN acknowledges the unceded territories of the Lekwungen people and offers thanks for the opportunity to live and work on your traditional territories.
This project is about sharing ideas, tools and skills about dealing with money, especially for people who have low incomes. Many different names are given to this kind of work including financial literacy, financial inclusion, asset-building or matched savings. The main focus of this work is to help people gain skills, knowledge and tools to respond to their own money-related needs in life.

Check out more details of this event here…

The Community Social Planning Council is coordinating this project and inviting anyone who is interested to participate. Connect with us today!
We are hoping to create:

  • A resource inventory showing where people can go (or call) for help with various kinds of money challenges (one for local resources and one for online resources).
  • Inspiration for our community by reviewing promising practices from other cities and regions (see the Ideas from Elsewhere section!).
  • New learning opportunities and resources to fill in gaps in what’s already offered in Greater Victoria
  • Opportunities for professional training for workers who support people with low incomes, especially around coaching or teaching people about money

This website is being added to all the time, so please look around for a while and come back regularly to see what’s new.
